Abstract

Rapid deployment of autonomous software in enterprise environments has raised serious security concerns regarding data integrity and system transparency. While blockchain provides decentralized protection, combining it with explainable AI to secure autonomous decisions remains understudied. This paper introduces BC-XAIA, an intelligent framework that integrates Ethereum smart contracts, Explainable AI (XAI), and Agile practices. The framework creates immutable logs for system actions while using SHAP and LIME to generate clear, real-time explanations for automated outputs. BC-XAIA was evaluated through an HR management case study across 15 functional and non-functional test cases. Usability testing with the System Usability Scale (SUS) resulted in an average score of 86%, placing the system in the excellent category for user satisfaction and integration. Overall, BC-XAIA demonstrates a practical way to combine blockchain security with transparent AI decision-making in real-world software.
